Buttermilk Dollars

We just received a special 10-spot from John Sarvay, take a look at his posting:

Thank you John!

Technology Woes

If you tried to visit our website or email us at the end of last week you probably noticed that we were MIA. While it may be true that we are just overwhelmed in our dollar-art processing and shut out the rest of the world, it is also true that our server crashed and made us, temporarily, disappear. We are in the process of switching to a new service provider and are afraid that we may have missed an email from you in the process. So if you haven't received a response, please assume that we didn't get your message and resend.

Especially for all of you out there who might be able to volunteer - we need to hear from you! Please don't let technology keep you away. We need folks this week to catalog/prepare "dollars," next week to hang the exhibition (did we mention that we have MORE THAN 2,000 collected so far!), and especially the night of 10-10-08 to help with the event. Please email sue@art180.org

Despite the technology, the "dollars" have been coming and coming and coming. So, yes, we have more than 2,000 (and counting). You are not going to want to miss the exhibition on 10-10 where we will bring all of these incredible little artworks together for a unique dialogue about change.

Can you help us?

We are looking for folks with a little time on their hands who want to be inspired, share, and do good. Change for a Ten needs you. Email us at 180@art180.org if you can help us either in scanning/cataloging the dollar creations during the next few weeks, hang/install the dollars at VCU's Brandcenter during the week of October 6, and/or volunteer the night of the event (6-8pm or 8-10pm).

Free Lunch!

Free lunch? Who doesn't like that?! Especially when it's at Café Olé! Bring your art dollar to the café at 2 N. 6th St., along with your $10 ART 180 donation, on Monday (9/22) from 11:30am-1:30pm and get a free burrito of your choice! You can even make your creation there.

For all of you out there who have been meaning to participate.... there's no time like now. It truly doesn't need to take more than a few minutes and we still want hundreds more (so, yes, feel free to submit more than one). The deadline is Monday 9/22 (ideally). Envision a better community. What would you change? Details and samples at www.art180.org/ten

And while you are looking at your calendar, go ahead and ink in 10-10-08, 7pm @ VCU's Brandcenter (103 S. Jefferson). You won't want to miss the exhibition of all the dollars at our 10th anniversary celebration!

In the meantime, we are scanning them all and preparing for the exhibit. If you can help with that or with the event itself, contact us at 180@art180.org
